Attention Acadia students:

I am very happy to announce that there are additional volunteer opportunities to get involved with the Acadia Students’ Union this year! And best of all, these positions are filled through an application process, so there is no need to campaign or do any speeches! 😎

We are now opening up applications for five (5) Associate Director positions and four (4) positions on Union committees. Applicants must be currently enrolled in studies (part-time or full-time) at Acadia University and be members of the ASU.

The following positions are available:

  • One (1) Associate Director – Presidential Affairs
  • One (1) Associate Director – Student Life
  • One (1) Associate Director – Events and Promotions
  • One (1) Associate Director – Academic Affairs
  • One (1) Associate Director – Financial Affairs
  • Two (2) Seats on the Governance Committee
  • Two (2) Seats on the Hiring Committee

The application period opens today (Friday, September 15th, 2017) and closes fourteen (14) days later on Friday, September 29th, 2017 at 4:00 PM

Application Packages, composed of a cover letter explaining your relevant skills and why you are applying and a copy of your resume, may be submitted in-person at the Union Market on the main floor of the Student Union Building (attn Chairperson) or by email at asu.chairperson@acadiau.ca.

What is an Associate Director?
The Associate Director position works closely with its corresponding Executive Board member and committee to provide support and to learn more about what the Acadia Students’ Union does for its members. This position is an amazing opportunity to shadow one of your student leaders in their job.

What is the ASU Governance Committee?
The Governance Committee was first created in September 2016 to conduct a review of the Acadia Students’ Union Constitution and By-Laws. Its review resulted in the recent changes to the Executive Board composition and created several new positions on Council including a First Year Office, Theology Senator and Community Relations Officer.
The 2017/2018 year will mark the beginning of a complete overhaul of the Acadia Students’ Union Constitution, its By-Laws, and its Operating Procedures. These documents govern how the Union works and how it can best support the needs of Acadia students.

What is the ASU Hiring Committee?
The Hiring Committee is the body of students who will conduct the hiring process for the VP Finance & Operations, the Chairperson, the Deputy Chairperson and the Chief Returning Officer for the 2018/2019 term of Council.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me anytime!
