About Acadia Women’s Center
The Acadia Women’s Centre is a place on campus where both women and men can come and build new friendships as well as learn and contribute to the discussions about many different issues on campus and off, from other Acadia Students. The Women’s Centre is a resource to students for safe-sex supplies, as well as support and guidance from their peers.
The Women’s Centre brings together women, men, trans and intersex people of both the Acadia and Wolfville communities to support students and give them a safe and inclusive space to talk about issues within Acadia’s community. As a student-run organization, we operate by the principals of support, inclusion and respect of differences, striving to raise awareness and provide event programming on the Acadia campus and in the surrounding community.
Past initiatives of the Women’s Centre have included: Pink ribbon campaign, a Montreal massacre candlelight vigil, the vagina monologues, international performance artists, sex toy bingo as well as fundraising open mic night for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. This year the Women’s Centre will be continuing many of these initiatives as well as bringing new and exciting projects while working with the other Internal Organizations on campus.
The Centre is a positive space where all individuals can come for support, guidance or a friendly face. The Women’s Centre office and the Peer Support Centre are available to anyone wishing to access any of the services the Peer Support Centre has or to just come in and chat!
