HOMETOWN: Pictou County, Nova Scotia
YEAR OF STUDY: 3rd
PROGRAM OF STUDY: BSc Biology
WHAT I DO:
As the VP Student Life, it is my job to act as a resource for Acadia’s Internal Organizations, Clubs, and House Councils so that they may understand their roles and responsibilities to students and help them be successful. I chair the Student Life Committee, sit on the Review Board, SRC, and regular Council. I also work with Keep it Social, L’Arche and the Charity Coordinator, and meet regularly with our student leaders within the ASU to ensure inclusive opportunities and experiences to students both on and off campus. As a member of the ASU Executive team, it is my job to promote the betterment of student life at Acadia and to create a positive atmosphere for our students where they feel welcome and advocated for. To ensure that the Executive is accessible to students and their needs, we hold regular office hours in the Old SUB and are open to emails, phone calls, and in-person chats. It is our job to offer support to the students in order to work towards positive change at Acadia, so come see us!
MY GOALS FOR THE YEAR:
My main goal for this year is to promote a fun, inclusive, and opportunistic experience for everyone. This will be done through active support and engagement of students and what they want to see happening in any ways that I can. I want to offer in-person visitation to residences with our House Councils and their residents so that they may ask questions and better understand both my job and the ASU as a whole. I want to promote further involvement and collaboration branching to students, both in and out of the Union, and to work with the students to create an environment which they feel at home being a part of. I cannot wait to work with such an amazing student body and Union to in turn work for YOU!
FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I’m a sucker for everything ocean, but sharks have my heart!!
