HOMETOWN: Ottawa, Ontario
YEAR OF STUDY: 5th
PROGRAM OF STUDY: I graduated with my Business degree, majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the spring, but I couldn’t leave this beautiful campus so I’m now working on my Honours project.
WHAT I DO: I take the concerns/ideas/wishes of students and communicate these to others. Together, we implement changes that positively affect students.
I am responsible for the efficient and proper administration of the ASU as I report to the Students’ Representative Council. I also sit on the Board of Governors and Senate of Acadia University to ensure students’ needs are always addressed. I represent the interests of the Union when participating in meetings of our external organizations, Students Nova Scotia and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations where Brianna and I lobby to provincial and federal government for policies that positively impact students.
MY GOALS FOR THE YEAR: I aim to encourage a collaborative and transparent environment where challenges are addressed head-on, always with students in mind. With the 50th anniversary of the ASU approaching, I want to learn from what has been successful and what needs to be changed to ensure we are always best representing and communicating with students. I want to enhance student life by ensuring students are connected to the resources they need to be successful at Acadia and beyond. This includes being connected to the great opportunities we have on campus such as research, creating mentorships with individuals who will empower students to develop their passions and connecting students to career and other post-graduation options.
The executive team is very passionate about helping Acadia students and creating the best possible experience for all Union members, and I’m proud to support the projects the team will be developing throughout the year.
FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I played bass guitar in jazz and concert bands for seven years.
