HOMETOWN: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
YEAR OF STUDY: Fourth
PROGRAM OF STUDY: Environmental & Sustainability Studies (ESST)
WHAT I DO: As the VP Student Life, it is my job to ensure each Club, Internal Organization (IO), and House Council all understand their roles and have the information they need to be successful. It is my privilege to work with these student organizations, and the outstanding, involved individuals, to relay support, knowledge, and availability through both prosperity and adversity. As an ASU Executive member, it is my job to be a part of the team that will advocate for the students of Acadia through inclusive programming, active transparency (what we’re up to and why) and more. We, as a team, work to ensure your voices are being heard and opinions are being considered through hosting weekly office hours and being accessible via e-mail, phone, and in-person. We are here to support you, so please don’t hesitate to visit us!
MY GOALS FOR THE YEAR: Given the new transitions and changes both within the ASU titles and the House Council positions, my number one goal is to ensure complete comprehension and practices within the Union. I will do this by being accessible via in-person visits, e-mailing, and by phone. In addition to this, I will strive for more inclusivity and collaboration both in and out of the Union to increase overall student engagement. I plan to do this by hosting both small and large meetings with student leaders to ensure clarity and connectivity. This way, those leaders can then pass along the knowledge and information presented to their peers, groups, organizations, etc. Acadia is a great school for student involvement, but there can always be more, and I aspire to see it happen throughout my year in office!
P.S. If you’re looking to become involved at any level, come and talk to me and we’ll find something that piques your interest(s)!
