The Acadia Fork and Farm Club is a club designed to foster the interest in growing plants and to connect the Acadia student body with the local farms of the Annapolis Valley. We participate in activities such as Open Farm Day, Corn Mazes, Pumpkin Carving, U-Picks and other activities around the Valley. Our main project from the past few years was growing vegetables throughout the winter in the K.C. Irving Centre Greenhouse. In the past, the aim was to experiment with watering and fertilizing techniques and to produce food for club members to eat. This year, we will focus more specifically on creating an aesthetic display of plants that is visually pleasing to the public. This will include experimenting with different coloured leafy greens, microgreens and edible flowers. Anyone who is interested in gardening, local farming, eating or participating in fun events is welcome to join our Facebook group “Acadia Fork and Farm Club”.
