Good morning Acadia students;
Keep up the good work! We’re almost at the end of exams! There are only five (5) days left until the beginning of the Winter Break. 😊
I am delighted to let you know that there are several new and exciting opportunities to get involved with the Acadia Students’ Union over the Winter Semester. Council has created three (3) special advisory committees to study important issues to the student body and each of these committees is looking for student-at-large members. From past experience, I can say that these are excellent opportunities to get engaged with student issues and contribute to making the Acadia community even better!
What are the committees and what do they do?
Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) (4 seats available)
- The mandate of the committee is to promote and facilitate a barrier-free Union, by advising Council and assisting in the removal and prevention of barriers faced by persons with disabilities within the Acadia Students’ Union. For more information on the Accessibility Advisory Committee, visit the ASU website here.
Community Engagement Advisory Committee (CEAC) (4 seats available)
- The mandate of the committee is to serve to promote and facilitate grassroots community engagement between Acadia students and community members that enhances the quality of student life at Acadia University and within the Acadia Students’ Union. For more information on the Community Engagement Advisory Committee, visit the ASU website here.
Alumni Engagement Committee (AEC) (2 seats available)
- The mandate of the committee is to promote and facilitate the relationship between alumni and current students of Acadia University through the ongoing maintenance of the Alumni Mentorship Network, a project that seeks to connect current students and recent graduates with mentors in their field to provide professional advice and guidance. For more information on the Alumni Engagement Committee, visit the ASU website here.
